Small Grants

Small and newly established human rights organisations are encouraged to apply for KIOS grants. KIOS has a special Small Grants Scheme for smaller organisations that don’t have a lot of experience on being funded by international donors. Grants for small projects are between 5 000 – 10 000 euro. 

 

When evaluating the application KIOS will take into consideration the following:

  • The potential of the project to promote or protect human rights
  • The capacity of the applicant to carry out a human rights project 
  • The project objectives and their achievability by the proposed project activities
  • The budget of the project in relation to local price level, project activities and to the capacity and previous experience of the applicant organisation

With Small Grants Scheme KIOS aims to support new initiatives of the civil society and to build the capacity of new human rights actors. KIOS strives to guide the applicant through application and reporting process by offering advice and suggestions. As with other projects KIOS keeps regular contact throughout the whole project period with the partner.

 

If you are interested in applying for a small grant, get acquainted with the KIOS Application Guide and then submit an application on KIOS Application Form. Mention in your application that you are applying under the Small Grants Scheme. If there are any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact KIOS office at kios@kios.fi.

Checklist for Applying

1. Familiarize yourself with the KIOS Application Guide.

2. Download KIOS Application Form or ask for the Application Form by sending us an email at kios@kios.fi.

3. Carefully read through the Application Form Guidelines (attached to the Application Form).

4. Fill in the Application Form.

5. Check that you have attached the required documents to your application: Project Budget, Two Written References, Annual Budget, Statutes or By-laws, Registration Certificate, Annual Report, Latest Audit Reports (from the two previous years). You may also attach other relevant additional documents

6. For the two written references use KIOS reference form.

7. Send the application form and the required documents to KIOS by email and by post.
