The Executive Board of KIOS has defined the mission, vision and values for the strategic period 2011 - 2015 as follows: MissionKIOS funds human rights work that aims to have states protecting the rights defined in international human rights treaties and committing to human rights in their legislations and its implementation. KIOS promotes the realisation of human rights in developing countries as they are defined in the human rights treaties and instruments of the United Nations and the Council of Europe and in other correspondent regional human rights instruments. UN Millennium Development Goals are taken into consideration in KIOS’s work. To advance this mission KIOS funds human rights projects in developing countries and is thus a direct channel of support to projects that promote the realisation of human rights in the developing countries and human rights knowledge of civil society actors. The mission of KIOS is to channel development cooperation funds of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs effectively and with good quality to human rights projects in the developing countries. VisionVision of KIOS is a world where all people have equal human dignity and human rights, whose central characteristics are universality, inalienability, indivisibility and fundamentality. In the core of this vision is the realisation of the rights of the most vulnerable groups, such as women, children, indigenous peoples, people with disabilities, sexual and gender minorities, human rights defenders and people living in extreme poverty. ValuesThe basis of operation of KIOS is the equal human dignity and human rights of all members of the human kind. To reach these values the work of KIOS is guided by the values of accountability, commitment and quality.
