Vision and Mission

Vision

  • Rights, as defined in international human rights treaties and other instruments, are guaranteed in legislation and realized in societies.
  • Cooperating partners have sufficient resources and capacity in human rights work.
  • Cooperating partners are networked and their work has significance in society.

Mission

All actors in societies have the right and the responsibility to defend their rights and the rights of others. KIOS works to promote the realization of rights in developing countries, as human rights are defined in the treaties and other instruments of the United Nations, and in regional human rights instruments.

KIOS does this by channelling direct support for projects that promote human rights in developing countries, and by promoting Finnish civil society’s awareness of human rights in the South.

Values

  • All people have an intrinsic worth and human rights that are universal, inalienable and fundamental.
  • Emphasis on justice and equality.
  • Promotion of the rights and conditions of the most disadvantaged members of societies.
  • Reliability, independence, commitment and quality.

Motto

“Human Rights for the Most Vulnerable”
